SPENCER AND LANCASTER TO ADOPT RoC ENGINE
PACKAGES, WITH SOME VARIATIONS
WILLIAMSON, NY…After much discussion an agreement has
been reached between Andy Harpell and his Race of
Champions circuit, and officials at Spencer and Lancaster
Speedways concerning the new RoC engine packages.
“We will be making the RoC steel headed engine legal at
both Spencer and Lancaster in the modified divisions,”
stated Spencer promoter John White.
“We have also looked at the 23 degree aluminum head
engine and, with some variations, we will also be allowing
it for competition at Spencer and Lancaster,” added
White.
The variation that will be used is changing the 650 Holley
Carburetor to a 390 Busch style Holley Carburetor, with
raised boosters. This carburetor change follows the rules
currently in use on the True Value Modified Series running
throughout New England each summer.
“This variation will make engine rules the same for the
RoC, the True Value series, Spencer Speedway and Lancaster
Speedway. This will be a real step forward in
standardizing the engine rules across the board in the
northeast,” commented White. “We need to start working
together to return asphalt modified racing back to were it
belongs. At the same time we have to look at maintaining
costs for the racers.”
For individuals without a computer Mr. White can be
reached by calling 631-745-9805 for more information about
these rules.
